Making a
template for your Dining Chairs
If you can’t find
a suitable cushion in our range to fit your chair, here’s how to make
a simple template so we can make a cushion for you.
|
| 1.
First find the centre line of the seat. Measure across the front and across
the back and put two or three marks on the seat to indicate the centre line.
(you can use labels, ‘post it’ notes etc). |
 |
2.
Fix paper in place
Use a piece of paper a little larger than the chair seat and fold it in
half with a nice straight edge. Place the creased edge on the two centre
marks, making sure the paper covers the outer edge of the seat and runs
up the back sticks at least 1” (2.5 cms). Fix the paper in position with
3 strips of sticky tape as shown. |
 |
3.
Mark the paper
Holding the folded paper down with one hand, crease the paper over the side
edge and front of the chair and down into place where the sticks join the
seat. It helps to put a few snips in the paper between the sticks as shown.
Using a ball point or fine felt tip pen, mark a small half circle at the
bottom of each stick so we can correctly place the holding straps. Now mark
all round the side and front edge of the seat. |
 |
|
4.
Name and cut the template
Print your name on the paper and remove it from the chair seat. And while
it is still folded, cut through both thicknesses of paper along the line
defining the edge of the seat. DO NOT CUT ALONG THE BACK STICK LINE –
leave at least 1” (2.5 cms) of paper above the half circle stick marks.
5.
Check the template
Open the paper and lay it on the seat – it should be a good fit.
